South Africa STANLEY Inspection Team Helps Repair Orphanage on Nelson Mandela Day

Mandela

8/27/2013

STANLEY Inspection, with its head office based in Johannesburg, South Africa, devoted their time at a local orphanage and day care center on July 18th, 2013, Mandela Day.

Nelson Mandela inspired the creation of this day during his 90th Birthday celebration when he said, "It is time for new hands to lift the burdens. It is in your hands now." Mandela Day is a call to action for individuals to "recognize their individual power to make an imprint and help change the world around them for the better," says the Nelson Mandela Foundation. 2013 marks the 67th year since the tradition of Mandela Day began. The call to action was 67 minutes of service, but the STANLEY Inspection team remained on site for the duration of the day to lend their hands and hearts.

The local team provided all of the building materials needed, helped to paint, repaired the facility, and played with the children. In addition, they assisted in preparing lunch for all volunteers. The main inspection office was not the only team to participate in Mandela Day. The Vaal and Secunda office locations in South Africa also lent a hand during the celebration at the U Mephi Children's home and the Kriel Children's Home, raising funds and assisting with food donations.

The orphanage and day care center in Johannesburg are owned by the Compass Organization, whose founders offer services towards aiding local schools and training opportunities for the unemployed. The STANLEY Inspection team received this kind thank you note from the Compass Organization for their hard work and assistance.
